KUALA LUMPUR, 30 OCTOBER – CHERY GROUP achieved a monumental milestone in its automotive journey by celebrating the production of its 15 millionth vehicle, with cars rolling off production lines simultaneously in four countries: Egypt, Brazil, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia. This accomplishment highlights Chery’s growing presence in Malaysia, reflecting the country’s crucial role in the brand’s global strategy.
As part of Chery’s expansion across five continents, Malaysia stands out as a gateway to other right-hand drive markets. Over the past 27 years, Chery has utilised cutting-edge technology, adhered to global standards, and employed world-class manufacturing processes. The global celebration showcases how Chery connects with drivers worldwide, while Malaysia plays an integral role in the brand’s vision of innovation and excellence in the automotive sector.
In Wuhu, China a special ceremony was held and Yin Tongyue, Chairman of Chery Group shared “Reaching 15 million vehicles is not just about increasing production numbers or accelerating Chery’s growth. It represents relentless innovation—turning the impossible into reality and pushing the possible into even greater potential.”

TIGGO 8 Shines Globally
At the global synchronised event, the TIGGO 8 rolled off the production line at Chery’s Brazil manufacturing facility, contributing to the company’s 15 millionth vehicle milestone.
With its expansive global presence, cutting-edge R&D, rigorous quality standards, and exceptional performance, Chery has adeptly met the varied needs of international markets. The TIGGO series has excelled across regions, establishing itself as a leading model worldwide.
Various models of the TIGGO 8 series continue to thrive, earning widespread trust in key markets such as Brazil, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Ecuador.
Locally in Malaysia, the TIGGO 8 PRO was introduced in 2023 during the brand’s launch and is currently locally assembled at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah.
The TIGGO 8 series, known for its quality and performance, has also earned several prestigious awards, including South Africa’s 2023 Motor Enthusiasts’ Choice award, Mexico’s Top Midsize SUV, and the Philippines’ Best Midsize Crossover at the recent 19th Annual C! Awards.

Global Sales Momentum
Since Chery’s first vehicle rolled off the line on December 18, 1999, the company has maintained its position as China’s top passenger car exporter for 21 consecutive years, expanding its business to over 100 countries and regions.
From January to September 2024, Chery Group sold 1,752,793 units, representing a 39.9% year-on-year increase, with exports reaching 829,353 units, marking a 24.5% year-on-year increase.
Chery’s dual-track strategy, focusing on both domestic and international markets, has fueled substantial growth, with exports now representing nearly 50% of total sales.
The company has shown impressive performance in both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and new energy vehicle (NEV) sectors. Year-on-year, ICE vehicle sales rose by 24.9%, while sales of NEV surged by an astounding 186%. This well-balanced approach demonstrates Chery’s ability to adapt to diverse market demands and drive innovation across multiple vehicle categories.
