As the global automotive industry accelerates its transition to new energy, a bold new challenge is set to test the limits of hybrid technology. Chery officially launched the inaugural leg of its “Endless Horizon Worry-Free Voyage” global endurance test drive—the “Three Gorges to Shanghai” Extreme Challenge on April 20.
This 1,400-kilometer real-world trial will cut across China’s Yangtze River Economic Belt, serving as both a rigorous evaluation of hybrid performance and a showcase for Chery Super Hybrid (CSH)—Chery’s groundbreaking innovation in hybrid powertrain technology.
Marking the first chapter of the global test drive series, the Three Gorges to Shanghai route holds deep strategic importance. Traversing China’s key economic zones from the renewable energy stronghold of the Three Gorges to the global financial hub of Shanghai, the journey embodies Chery’s vision of “borderless technology, limitless regions, and boundless driving experiences.”
The endurance challenge will expand to key international markets including Europe, Southeast Asia, and South America—forming a global verification system based on real-world driving scenarios.
The route itself was designed to simulate everyday driving conditions in their most authentic form. A fleet of CSH-equipped vehicles—including the TIGGO 9 CSH and ARRIZO 8 CSH—embarked from the Three Gorges, navigating the urban sprawl of Wuhan, passing through the historic water town of Wuzhen, and will arrive in Shanghai on April 22.
Covering a range of terrains such as mountain roads, expressways, and dense urban environments, this test provides a comprehensive performance audit under dynamic conditions.
Automotive media from over 10 countries—including Spain, Poland, and Malaysia—are joining in the four-day journey, participating in in-depth evaluations of the hybrid systems under continuous long- distance driving. Their focus will be on three key areas:
- Powertrain endurance, showcasing CSH’s intelligent energy management across the 1,400km journey.
- Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automatic Parking Assist (APA), tested across varied climates and road conditions.
- Battery adaptability, examining vehicle-to-load (V2L) energy output and rapid charging efficiency.
