CHERY MALAYSIA COMPLETES HANDOVER OF 50 VEHICLES TO PUTRA HEIGHTS FIRE VICTIMS

April 14, 2025

SUBANG JAYA, 14 APRIL – Chery Corporate Malaysia has successfully completed the handover of all 50 vehicles under its Temporary Vehicle Assistance Programme to families affected by the recent gas inferno incident in Putra Heights, Selangor.

The initiative, announced on 2 April (a day after the incident) is part of Chery’s ongoing commitment to support local communities during times of crisis. The company subsequently delivered the first batch of 25 vehicles, two days later (4 April), with the remaining units handed over to the final group of recipients last week (9 April).

The Temporary Vehicle Assistance Programme was initiated to assist families who have lost their homes and means of transport, helping them regain mobility and access essential services such as medical appointments, school runs, and daily commuting.

Chery Corporate Malaysia worked together with the offices of Selangor Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility YB Ng Sze Han, and the local authorities to coordinate the distribution of vehicles to ensure a smooth and timely rollout of the programme.

The one-month vehicle loan by Chery also included RM100 in fuel assistance for each recipient. In addition, Chery also donated RM50,000 to the Putra Heights Mosque, which has been serving as a temporary evacuation centre for over 80 affected families. The donation aims to ease the mosque’s operational burden, particularly in managing rising utility costs as it continues to shelter displaced residents.

Chery Malaysia remains committed to being more than just an automotive company, but a responsible and compassionate member of the community. We extend our heartfelt support to all families affected and hope our efforts have provided some comfort and mobility during this difficult time.
