CHERY MALAYSIA LAUNCHES THE OMODA E5
Powering Sustainable Green Mobility
KUALA LUMPUR, 6 MARCH: Chery Malaysia is proud to welcome its first electric vehicle in Malaysia, the CHERY OMODA E5, poised to significantly enhance Malaysia’s green mobility and provide a safe travel experience to Malaysian consumers.
The OMODA E5 is more than just an electric vehicle; it symbolises Chery’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. With its advanced features and cutting-edge technology, the OMODA E5 is set to revolutionise how Malaysians think about transportation.

Chen added that the OMODA E5 will be the first Chinese electric vehicle to be assembled in Malaysia. “By assembling our cars in Malaysia, Chery will be able to create more job opportunities and boost the local economy further. This initiative aligns with the government’s policy of localisation compliance and will assist Malaysia to become a hub for EVs in the region,” he said.
The Chery OMODA E5 launch was graced by YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and His Excellency Mr Ouyang Yujing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia.
During the event, Chen also revealed Chery Malaysia’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiative, aimed at promoting sustainability and encouraging environmentally friendly practices among Chery’s staff members in Malaysia as well as their dealer partners and stakeholders.
Chery Malaysia Product Director Michael Chew introduced the OMODA E5 to the audience including members of the media, highlighting key features of the electric car.

Intelligent Powertrain
The OMODA E5 redefines driving with a powerful 3-in-1 flat-wire motor and three leading electronic control systems providing an unparalleled blend of strength and technology for an elevated driving experience. Benefits of the three technologies; ultra-low power consumption of 15.5kwh/100km, ultra-long life of 430km, ultimate fast charging from 30% to 80% in 28 minutes.
The OMODA E5 is equipped with a highly efficient electric drive system that not only achieves over 94% stable output power but also incorporates a quiet design, significantly enhancing the comfort of the driving experience.
The OMODA E5 is powered by a 61kWh high-capacity lithium iron phosphate blade battery ensuring long-range and swift charging while enhancing its eco-friendliness. Delivering an impressive 201hp and 340Nm of torque, while boasting a remarkable Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) 430km range.
The AC charging rate is 9.9kW, while DC charging operates at 80kW. Fast DC charging can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in just 28 minutes. The battery’s longevity reduces replacement costs and embodies energy conservation and emission reduction.

Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance System
Safety is a top priority for the OMODA E5 which is equipped with the latest generation of the Advanced Driver Assistance System 2.5 (ADAS 2.5) system. Interior, Dimension and Space
The OMODA E5 offers a luxurious and expansive interior, meticulously crafted for comfort and style. The OMODA E5 features a dual-tone combination of blue and white-beige as well the all-black colour, setting your vehicle apart with its distinctive elegance and sophistication.

With a length of 4420mm and a wheelbase of 2630mm, it provides ample space for passengers and cargo alike.

The Chery OMODA E5 has also excelled in the Water Wading Test and Bottom Scrapping conducted, proving that the electric vehicle is capable of handling various terrains, ensuring a reliable and safe driving experience.

The OMODA E5 comes in Aqua Green, Khaki White, Phantom Grey and Dark Black and is priced at RM 146,800.
