CHERY MALAYSIA ANNOUNCES EXCITING PLANS FOR 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 JANUARY: Chery Auto Malaysia is gearing up for an exhilarating year ahead as it announces ambitious plans in expanding dealerships as well as including new Chery products for the Malaysian market.

Following a successful introduction of the brand in mid-2023, Chery Auto Malaysia is poised to strengthen its presence and offer an enhanced driving experience for Malaysian consumers.

Chery Auto Malaysia Vice President Lee Wen Hsiang who led the presentation at Chery’s Annual Business Briefing, thanked the media for their continuous support for the brand.

“It has been an interesting year for Chery, from the day we launched our products in July to delivering our vehicles to our customers two months after (September),“Chery Malaysia achieved more than 4,500 units in terms of customer delivery vehicle registration in the year 2023,” said Lee adding that Chery also conducted a sales satisfaction survey from more than 1000 customers who had given the brand an exceptionally high score of 94 over 100.

He added that despite there were comments targeting Chery when it was first introduced to the Malaysian market, however the brand is giving primary focus on was resolving customer issues which he assured that they will continue to do in 2024.

Lee pointed out that although Chery faced some initial comments upon its introduction to the Malaysian market, the brand has steadfastly prioritised resolving customer issues. He assured that this commitment remains a top priority for Chery in 2024, emphasising the brand’s dedication to ongoing improvement and customer satisfaction.

Alongside this remarkable sales growth, Chery Auto Malaysia shared news of its extensive nationwide expansion.

Chery Auto Malaysia Network Development Director Soon Boon Ping said the brand which currently has 32 outlets in operation across Malaysia with a workforce of 550 personnels.

“By at the end of 2024, we hope to have at least 48 outlets in operation and that will also contribute to 70% increase in our 3S and 4S centres,” said Soon adding that the strategic move aims to enhance accessibility for customers and further establish Chery’s presence across various regions nationwide.

Soon said the brand’s primary focus on geographical expansion through strategic partnerships, scalability, and future-proofing. Additionally, he highlighted the commitment to invest significantly in the training and skill development of both sales and aftersales teams, underscoring the brand’s dedication to continuous improvement and excellence.

The expansion signifies Chery Malaysia’s commitment on delivering innovative, but high- quality vehicles also that cater to the diverse needs of Malaysian drivers. “With more outlets and partnerships in the pipeline, this will serve as a platform to showcase Chery’s latest models, cutting-edge technology, and exemplary customer service,” said Soon.

During the session Chery Auto Malaysia’s Product Director Michael Chew spoke on the new offerings and what Malaysians can look forward to in 2024 from the Chinese automotive brand.

Chew shared that Chery is all set to launch the Omoda E5 by end of Q1 but also threw in a surprise by informing the media that the Tiggo 7 Pro will be introduced within the Q2 of 2024. A soon-to-be revealed model is also in the pipeline for Chery in the fourth quarter which will be priced at a more affordable price.
