Chery is first Chinese carmaker to export over 50k units in a month
Chery has become the first Chinese auto brand to export more than 50,000 vehicles in a single month – in July, the carmaker sold 50,614 units outside China (+90.1% year-on-year, or YoY) out of a global total of 131,533 vehicles (+57.7% YoY).
This impressive performance, achieved amidst still-ongoing challenges including the after-effects of COVID-19 and logistical difficulties, means that from January to July 2022, Chery has exported nearly 200,000 vehicles (+36.8% YoY), or about a third of its global sales total so far this year.
Chery is deeply committed to its globalisation strategy and continues to make stable but powerful strides in overseas markets. Since the start of the year, the company has successively broken the Chinese auto brand monthly export records held by itself, charting a 60.5% average growth rate in exports over the past three months.
The Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 7 series models continue to win the approval of more and more global consumers. Notably, 31,263 units of the Tiggo 8 series were exported in the first seven months of 2022 (+43.3% YoY), and as a testament to its quality, strength and stature, this series does duty as presidential and state transport in several countries and regions.
In Egypt specifically, Chery sold 1,846 vehicles in July, boosting its January-July sales total to 12,591 units, while its January-June market share stands at 11.42%. In South Africa, 1,262 Chery vehicles found homes in July, lifting its January-July sales total to 6,380 units and yielding a 4.01% market share – a record high.
In the second half of the year, Chery will further strengthen its brand, product and customer operations, and continuously expand its channels to accelerate the launch of new vehicles. Chief among these is the OMODA 5, the first member of Chery’s new global OMODA series, which will be making its way across the globe to delight the young generation with its technology-rich features and trendy design.
Also, in line with the global automotive trend towards new energy vehicles (NEV), Chery targets to implement NEV launches in 14 countries this year, including Brazil, Argentina and Chile, covering a variety of powertrains such as pure electric, plug-in hybrid and 48V mild hybrid systems.
